General Review

In the end, my production turned out to be almost nothing like how I had originally planned it or wanted to be. I didn't use a voice over, narration or particularly low-angled shots, and I completely changed the perspective of it too.
The story line also changed and I decided to make it a lot simpler because people wouldn't understand it otherwise.
I know the whole thing is set in only one location and it seems like almost nothing is going on, so people might have got bored; however, this is a similar aspect to the opening titles of Dead Man's Shoes, (directed by Shane Meadows) whereby the only thing the characters are shown doing is walking.

^I couldn't actually find the particular (opening) scene on Youtube that I was looking for, but here is the imdb link and it also shows the trailer of it.

Final Changes

Due to the feedback, I have decided to re-name my production title; I have chosen to call it "The Contract" because I think it is more appropriate and still able to give a double meaning.
In the end even though I would have wanted to, I decided not to use a voice over because this would apparently make the story far to complex. Also, instead of multiple sections from different songs, I chose to use only one song but still created from the same musician.

I had to completely scrape my original ideas such as not putting in a news report or a flashback; purely because I wouldn't have been able to fit all of the scenes into only 2 minutes. I knew right from the start of the project that I would have far too many shots and that obviously most of them would not be used in the final cut. Again, this was due to the time limit of the film opening. However, I could have used the audio concept of a news report, like in my original idea of having it from a radio; I tried multiple time to download a track but they didn't work. Therefore I had to do without.

Feedback

This is the first cut from my production,

obviously there is still a lot of work to do.

Marked against the A-Level Criteria by our teacher, I received information about final changes which need to occur very soon:

CONSTRUCTION CRITERIA

LEVEL

COMMENT

Holding shot steady

2
Phone goes out of focus(other shots too)
Try to avoid cutting on moving shots

Framing a shot

2
This is generally OK.

Appropriate material for task

2
No indication of who the character is – doesn’t really set up a narrative

Selecting mise en scene (colour, lighting, props, setting)

2
Only 1 location- this limits grade. You need to show that you have used costume, lighting etc for effect

Editing for meaning

Builds up strong suggesting crime planning.

Varied shot transitions and post production effects

2
Lots of variety of cuts/ mixes but no other post-production techniques.

Use of sound

2
Ambient sound OK but needs another layer.

Using titles

1
Still don’t like the title- and it needs to come at the end. Other titles needed.
